What is PRE-FALL anyway?

At nursery school every child in the English-speaking world learns the same things: the days of the week, the alphabet, numbers until ten and the seasons of the year. Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall (or Autumn, if you are in the UK). Every year, the same cycle, one season after the other, in the never-ending circle of life. However there are a few days between each season when the weather has not quite flipped yet; in the past we would have just carried a cardigan or mac out with us in the morning, in case it was not quite as warm as expected. This arrangement has worked for everyone since time immemorial. After all, even before fashion was an industry human beings have been very competent at dressing ourselves for the weather. But the fashion industry is never satisfied. Four seasons?? Pah! That’s for nursery school kiddies. Traditionally the fashion calendar has defied the natural laws of nature, and operated with two main season: Spring/Summer, and Fall/Winter, that’s why there are only two major fashion weeks. …

Weekly Fashion Forecast- Muggy London

London in the summer is absolutely the best place on Earth. Everyone is happier, the city is bustling and absolutely everything moves outside….Restaurants find ways to pop-up on roofs, or to food markets and every bar overpills out on to the streets. But I really love London in the summer because it becomes the most stylish place ever in the summer. Gone are frumpy winter cosy clothes, and in come hot pants, vintage floaty dresses and cotton-candy coloured hair. Heaven. This week however, it will not be sunny, but it will be hot. Which means that it will be muggy and humid and that is just not a good look on anyone. My top tip is to not be fooled by the ominous clouds gathering outside your window, because it WILL stay sweaty. Soz. By the end of the week the sun will be out again and everyone will be happy… Which is why I have chosen the humble white t-shirt as my jump-off point this week. It’s flexible, so you can wear it on grey …

Weekly Weather Forecast- hella hot LDN

Guys. It’s gonna be HELLA hot in London this week. It’s going to be so hot the Daily Mail will publish headlines like “UK Hotter than THE SAHARA desert this week!!” accompanied by pictures of babes in bikinis lounging on the pebbles of Brighton Beach. Yes, that hot… So, I have helpfully put together a style guide on how to look cool and stay cool when the weather outside is punishingly hot. Some people favour shorts or culottes when it is that warm because skirts/dresses are very conducive to the dreaded chub rub, but a little talcum powder can solve that straight up, and a dress will keep you feeling cooler. In the heat, I like to keep it simple. And by simple I obviously mean I like to pretend I’m on the Riviera instead of the Underground, so I wear blue, white and sunglasses. And you should too, because the Riviera will always beat the Underground. This embroidered dress from Madewell, paired with your favourite espadrilles simply scream Santorini. Incidentally, espadrilles are the hit of …

Valentino Resort ’16- the best thing since sliced bread

After a prolonged absence of three months, SLIR is back. In these three months, we have moved house, gone travelling, updated our wardrobes and joined a gym. Lots of things happened in the world of fashion and lifestyle as well: Kylie and Kendall released their capsule collection  for Topshop, the arrival of summer on the Northern Hemisphere appears to have brought back the 1970’s (you saw it here first), and a fluffy version of good ol’ Karl became 2015’s must have accessory. Though I have kept abreast of developments in the fashion world, not until today have I been shaken out of my summer stupor. It has virtually taken a Valentino Resort collection of unmatched awesomeness to shake me back into a creative haze. And of course it did. Rarely have I seen a collection so rich, beautiful and diverse as this one. It’s almost as detailed as their couture shows, but much more accessible. It’s really playful and all around super cool……It’s also super duper expensive so even though it’s a ready to wear …

Street Style: Blonde Kim

So Kim Kardashian is no longer a striking brunette- she is now a striking blonde. I honestly don’t know what to say about it… It’s definitely not awful, but it’s not great either. I guess it could be edgy, but I feel like the colour is wrong, and I can definitely still see some dark on the sides. It is far too yellow for my taste- and if it’s edgy she wants why not commit to full-on ice-blonde almost ice shade? The styling feels a bit wrong as well- sort of greasy. Oh Kim…I know you only wash your hair every 5 days, but surely the hair-dresser does it for you when you get it coloured. Sigh. Maybe this is like that time Katy Perry bleached her hair and everyone was like ‘OMG!’ only for her to dye it pink immediately. though somehow I doubt Kim is about to go all bubble-gum on us. So, what do you think?

Wednesday Wishlist: Spring

I guess if I was being totally honest, this list wouldn’t be a list at all. It would be a single word printed in bold and heaving with wishful thinking. SPRING, come at me bro! Thankfully, the sun has been out here in London, and it does feel like the weather is about to break. So, I have put together a little list of Spring essentials, in preparation for the BEST SEASON OF THEM ALL: 1. Vitamin C Serum for plump and healthy skin It’s no secret that I love a good serum. I was once told that for my age-group (20-something fabulous), Vitamin C is really the only age prevention serum that I need- so I jumped on the VitC Train and never looked back. Choo-choo. My skin routine is super basic: I use Micellar Water to remove my make-up and cleanse at the end of the day, and then apply the Vitamin C Serum. In the morning I scrub and wash my face, and apply the serum again before make-up. Easy. I have been …
