Weekly Fashion Forecast: Autumn in July

Before I moved to London, my father told me the Dad Joke to end all Dad Jokes: “You’re moving to London, eh? Did you know that summer there last year fell on a Wednesday afternoon?” he chuckled, merrily. I dismissed him, of course, and in the 9 summers since my arrival I have genuinely had a jolly good time in the mild and pleasant English Summers. Apart from this year, my dad’s prophetic Dad Joke came true….we have virtually only had a couple of days of warm weather and yesterday I actually wore BOOTS and a COAT to work. It’s kinda cold, a bit rainy and it feels more like October than July- and I blame you dad! Laughing at my meteorological predicament! Don’t be fooled by the shiny sun-like icon on Friday- all week, any glimmer of sunshine has rapidly given way to shower and gusts of wind. I am not best pleased. I do advise you continue to carry your brolly around, and do keep a light jumper in your bag because the …

Weekly Fashion Forecast- Muggy London

London in the summer is absolutely the best place on Earth. Everyone is happier, the city is bustling and absolutely everything moves outside….Restaurants find ways to pop-up on roofs, or to food markets and every bar overpills out on to the streets. But I really love London in the summer because it becomes the most stylish place ever in the summer. Gone are frumpy winter cosy clothes, and in come hot pants, vintage floaty dresses and cotton-candy coloured hair. Heaven. This week however, it will not be sunny, but it will be hot. Which means that it will be muggy and humid and that is just not a good look on anyone. My top tip is to not be fooled by the ominous clouds gathering outside your window, because it WILL stay sweaty. Soz. By the end of the week the sun will be out again and everyone will be happy… Which is why I have chosen the humble white t-shirt as my jump-off point this week. It’s flexible, so you can wear it on grey …

NYFW- Blogger Style

New York Fashion Week has barely finished and already we are bracing ourselves for the madness in London. Each fashion week has it’s own identity and style, and it partly reflects the city they are held in, partly the designers that show there, and partly the crazy weather. Of course, New York is much colder than European capitals this time of year, so the street style of the fashionistas and bloggers who chose to attend had to reflect that. I mean, some celebs were being totally ridic and wearing summer clothes- I mean I cannot even start with that. I’m looking at you, Kate Hudson. Sure we all want it to be spring so we can bust out our florals, but it was -27C in NYC this week, so I’m not buying your off the shoulder sunflower whatever. Style is dressing for the weather as well as the occasion!! Now the three bloggers pictured above definitely dressed for the weather- so kudos to them. Aimee Song, from Song of Style, gets the most snaps because she’s …

Fashion Forecast- Early February

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but it’s going to remain cold, wet and horrible this week here in London. So while we will have to keep our sunglasses in the back of the drawer for couple months yet; the cold weather does offer the opportunity to feel damn cozy all day long. And if there is one thing I value above ALL ELSE, it’s coziness. I would wear a duvet to work if it didn’t take up too much space in the packed rush-hour tube. So I gracefully put together a little lookbook of cozy-yet-stylish bits to wear this week that should help cheer you up even as the wind slaps you around the face. 1. This Long Shearling Coat from TOAST, £1295, is the coolest damn thing I have ever seen  2. A merino and cashmere blend sweater will help keep you warm no matter what. This one is Organic and is by John Patrick, £180.    3. J Brand Jeans, yes please, £160    4.Let’s all agree …
